Meet the Teacher - Ms. Rikki Gibbs
Rikki Gibbs is a Raleigh native and North Carolina licensed teacher with a long background in the performing arts.
She participated in multiple theatrical and choral performances in elementary school. Rikki attended Ligon GT Magnet Middle School from 2000-2003 where she participated in theatre, chorus, dance, band, and visual art. She was an original member of the very first Applause class her 7th grade year and joined Encore during 8th grade. In high school, she focused on theatre arts and chorus while at South East Raleigh Magnet High School. Rikki attended UNC Greensboro from 2007-2012 where she received her BFA in Theatre Education. She completed her student teaching at Enloe High School in the spring of 2012.
After graduation, Rikki received her K-12 Licensure in Theatre Arts. She spent seven and a half years teaching high school theatre at a charter school in Zebulon, NC. While there, she was awarded multiple grants, produced extracurricular plays and musicals, sponsored the Student Council, and served as department chair for four years.
Rikki has also been an active performer since adolescence. She has worked with various performing groups throughout North Carolina in theatre, film, television, and music. Among others, she has performed with Josh Groban, Clay Aiken, WRAL, Warner Brothers, and performed in Carnegie Hall.
Ms. Gibbs is excited to be back at Ligon, where she was able to discover Theatre as her passion. She looks forward to working with the amazing students, parents, and staff!
